Bunya Mountains & Toowoomba Weekend Away 26th – 28th September

What a weekend this promises to be! The Bunya Mountains need to be experienced to be appreciated; the wondrous get-away to nature, soaring majestic views, idyllic rainforest walks and plentiful wildlife. But that’s just where we’re staying; this jammed packed weekend also includes the famed Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers and we have tickets to the Saturday FEASTival included in your purchase. The plan is as follows:

We set off from Brisbane Roma St at 1:30pm on Friday (in our airconditioned minibus), leaving us enough time to settle in at our accommodation before dinner at The Bunya Mountains Tavern around 6:30. The Bunya Mountains is a fair drive away, so its makes sense to stay a couple of nights, though its really the mornings atop the mountain that will blow you away. Hopefully can sort an early Friday get away out with your boss 😉

Saturday we’ll be waking up in paradise and hitting the country roads for a trip to Toowoomba, which will now be in full bloom! Once we arrive in Toowoomba we’re off to see the flowers at Laurel Bank Park. It’s amazing the amount of planning and care that goes into these flower beds and the formations they design will blow your mind. And of course the colours are incredible. Be sure to bring your best camera and floral dress for this occasion!

Next stop is Queen’s Park and as well as seeing the flowers, it’s here that we have tickets for FEASTival – ‘An unforgettable day of delicious bites, cellar door wineries, craft beer and distilleries and live entertainment’. There will be live music and wine tastings included in your ticket, but some of the food shows (and buying food and drinks) costs extra.

Sunday will bring another wondrous morning – refreshing as a breath of the freshest air you’re likely to find. As well as the views, crisp mountain air and towering Bunya Pines, the wildlife of wallabies crossing your path, parrots, bowerbirds & countless other birds also provide a memorable highlight; with even an echidna making an appearance last time. We’ll have a bit of a later start to the morning, and after breakfast pack up things and set off to another hike atop the mountain. On the way back to Brisbane we have a couple of must-see stops, the Pottique Lavendar Farm and famed Blackbutt Bakery. We should have you back to Brisbane Sunday by 4pm.

As well as all the experiences this weekend provides, it’s also an amazing opportunity to make some new friends and build on the friendships you have, perhaps with people you’ve met at one of our previous events.

There are only 9 spots for this trip and you will be travelling with hosts Josie and Paul in a 12 seat HiAce Commuter for the duration of the weekend. Please pack light, with a carry-on style bag.
