About the Event
SOLD OUT
2 Nights Accommodation, All Transport from Brisbane, Sth Burnett Wine Tour | From $289 | Friday 27th Sept 4pm to Sunday 29th 4pm
What a weekend this promises to be! The Bunya Mountains need to be experienced to be appreciated; the wondrous get-away to nature, soaring majestic views, idyllic rainforest walks and plentiful wildlife. But that’s just where we’re staying; this weekend is jam packed, also featuring the Lavendar Farm, Llamas & Alpaccas and a wine tour of the South Burnett Region that includes one of the best platter lunches you could hope to encounter. The plan is as follows:
We set off from Brisbane Roma St at 4:00pm on Friday (in our airconditioned minibus), leaving us enough time to arrive for dinner at The Bunya Mountains Tavern around 7:30 (with a bathroom stop along the way). The Bunya Mountains is a fair drive away, so its makes sense to stay a couple of nights, though its really the mornings atop the mountain that will blow you away. Hopefully can sort an early Friday get away out with your boss 😉
Saturday we’ll be waking up in paradise to an epic day of winetasting, sumptuous food and more in the South Burnett Region. We’ll kick the day off with breakfast in the local cafe, followed by a walk in the Bunya Mountains National Park. At 10:00 its time to set off in search of wineries, but not before a stop at the Pottique Lavendar Farm for all things lavendar, including tea and shampoo. The winetasting will begin at midday with the quality of wine from the South Burnett Region being a delightful surprise. After first visiting Moffatdale Ridge, for another wine tasting and included lunch we’re off to Clovelly Estate and you can have a gander at the provided lunch in the photos above (spectacular!). The afternoon brings one more winetasting at Kingsley Grove and it’s quite the experience chatting with local sommeliers as they do just about everything themselves out here, short of making the labels and bottles. Saturday night we’re booked in for dinner at the Bunya Mountains Tavern and you’ll have plenty of time later to enjoy any purchased bottles of wine in front of a roaring fireplace. Everyone will be staying at the same Chalet, the Toolburra: https://bunyamountains.com.au/accommodation/toolburra/ More on accommdation at the end of this page.
Sunday will bring another wondrous morning – refreshing as a breath of the freshest air you’re likely to find. As well as the views, crisp mountain air and towering Bunya Pines, the wildlife of wallabies crossing your path, parrots, bowerbirds & countless other birds also provide a memorable highlight; with even an echidna making an appearance last time. We’ll have a bit of a later start to the morning, and after breakfast pack up things and set off to another hike atop the mountain. On the way back to Brisbane we have a couple of must-see stops, the first being the famed Blackbutt Bakery. Next up we’re off to Woongooroo Estate for lunch and a meeting of the Llama and Alpacca kind. Woongooroo Estate is a winery so we may have one more chance to sample a few more wines, if you haven’t had enough already! We expect to arrive back in Brisbane around 4pm.
As well as all the experiences this weekend provides, it’s also an amazing opportunity to make some new friends and build on the friendships you have, perhaps with people you’ve met at one of our previous events.
Now for accommodation we have two options. There are four bedrooms. Three of the bedrooms will have 2 beds each for 2 people (we’ll call these the 2Bedroom option). The Fourth Bedroom has 5 beds for 5 people, we’ll call this the 5Bedroom. Staying in the 5Bedoom is $289, and staying in a 2Bedroom is $329. Once one of these options sells out, only the other option will be available, so don’t delay! Choice of which 2Bedroom goes to whom will go according to who bought tickets first, these bedrooms have a double or queen bed as one option and a single or bunk bed as the other option.
